A lot has changed in the world of homeownership and renovation. Many of our lives are now centered in our homes, where the most irreplaceable memories and moments are taking place. One of the few spaces where one can escape from all of the craziness is that of the bathroom. Whether you are looking to add a few updates or want a total bathroom makeover, below are some of the hottest bathroom renovation trends for the new year!

Technology Upgrades for the Modern Bathroom

From the bacteria-fighting power of a touchless toilet to handy refrigerated cabinets, technology is here to stay in any bathroom space. Just one upgrade will last for years and make the little things in life just a bit more easy and enjoyable.

Dark Wood Tones in the Bathroom

Previously, we saw a resurgence in all white bathrooms and overall lighter tones. However, it takes a certain amount of balance to stay away from a feeling of total sterility. For those who aren't a fan of the white and grey trend, enter dark wood! Dark wood is not only easier to clean and cover up messes; it offers a dimension of warmth and depth that achieves a more relaxing, spa-like effect. Adding in dark wood accents or completely redoing the space with dark wood as a main focal piece is an excellent option and will prove to be quite popular in 2021.

New Bathroom Storage Solutions

A cluttered bathroom makes for a stressful bathroom! In order to facilitate a calm atmosphere, adding in or expanding existing storage space is a great option for those working with smaller spaces or who want to keep things looking clean and sleek. A great way to do this is by adding cabinetry that highlights your ideal aesthetic while also maximizing space with added shelving and deeper drawers.

Enhanced Bathroom Lighting

Lighting is one of the most important areas of the bathroom. Just one change in lighting can affect the entire appearance and mood of the bathroom space. Do away with harsh overhead lighting and instead go with the luxurious look of a chandelier. Going for a more minimalist feel? Geometric lighting pieces are just the thing to light up the room without disrupting its flow.

All in all, 2021 is sure to be a new year full of new possibilities and hope. What better way to celebrate this by making your bathroom space reflect you? For over 40 years Acadian House Design + Renovation has been helping homeowners create the perfect bathroom.
