Kitchen Storage and Organization Ideas

One of the most important aspects of a kitchen renovation is enhancing, improving, and adding new storage and organization functionality. If it has been several years since your house was built, or even since your most recent kitchen project, storage and organization strategies have drastically evolved. With new appliances like air fryers, and contemporary kitchen design concepts that promote less clutter, you need to find new ways to use and store your stuff. While the tried-and-true backbone of kitchen organization remains the same; counterspace, cabinetry, drawers, and islands, the way they can perform and provide comfort and convenience has changed. Let’s take a closer look at some of the ways that your kitchen’s storage and organization capabilities can be improved.

Drawer Storage for Dishes

It’s long been customary to store dishes and bowls in cabinets. However, thinking outside of the proverbial box can take advantage of often ignored space. Drawers can be fabricated to hold a variety of dishes of an array of sizes, creating a more comfortable and efficient kitchen.

Open Shelving Combined with Traditional Cabinetry

Open shelving presents more of contemporary, minimalistic feel and can easily be combined with traditional cabinetry. This balance can promote both functionality and fashion be keeping more frequently used items handy, as well as more aesthetically pleasing décor in the open.

Corner Drawers for More Kitchen Storage

One of the more current storage solutions has been to incorporate a Lazy Susan into the corner of a cabinet. While this was a novel use of space, it is easy for things to get stuck or caught, rendering it largely unused. This can be a super useful area with the right design and features. Corner drawers of varying lengths and depths can easily enhance not only this area of the kitchen, but free up storage elsewhere.

Deeper Drawers and Custom Cabinet Inserts

With custom cabinet inserts, cabinetry and pantries can utilize the functionality of drawers. No longer will something be lost, forgotten, or stuck in the back of a cabinet. With custom racks that effortlessly move on slides, everything within the depth of a cabinet is a quick pull from being accessed.

Pull-Out Trashcan Cabinets

From meal scraps to paper towels to water bottles and ingredient containers, the trashcan and recycling bins of a kitchen are essential. However, these receptacles can easily take up a lot of real estate. In addition to that they can be unsightly. Pull-out cabinets designed to hold your trash and recycling cans solves this problem. New cabinets and pre-existing cabinets can be fashioned into pull out drawers that leverages unused space and keeps these necessities out of sight and out of mind.

Two-Tiered Cutlery Drawers

Silverware drawers can quickly become disorganized and cluttered. With varying sizes of knives, forks, spoons, and a wide array of other utensils, keeping them all inline can be a challenge. By separating your cutlery drawer into two tiers, you can literally double your space. Perhaps your everyday silverware is in the top space, while your less used utensils like steak knives, tongs, ladles, and other items remain below. However, each set is still has easy and comfortable access.
