About Acadian House Design + Renovation

In 1968 Kathy and Mike Simoneaux moved to Homestead, Florida from Baton Rouge after Mike was drafted into the U.S. Army. As a side job, Mike began installing cabinets, and upon returning to Baton Rouge in the early 70’s, went to work as a cabinet builder for Roy Taylor. The Simoneauxs gained valuable experience and eventually bought the business, founding Taylor Made Cabinets in 1977.
In 1979 Acadian House Kitchen and Bath Design was born and has been lauded by clients and industry insiders as a one-stop shop for home improvement in Baton Rouge ever since. By providing design and build services for kitchens, both indoor and outdoor, baths, laundry rooms, closets, and any other functional area of the home, Acadian House has been recognized by satisfied clients across the state and industry experts alike.

In 2012 Acadian House was one of 200 companies nationally that was recognized with a Guildmaster with Distinction Award from Guild Quality. This honor is reserved for members of the Guild whose customers have praised their work as being well above the standards of the building profession. Acadian House was also selected as a House & Home Design Award winner in 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014.

In 2017, after 38 years, Mike and Kathy decided to hang up their hard hats and enjoy retirement. Their daughter Angela and her husband Joey purchased the business in October of 2017 and will continue to grow the company as a second generation husband and wife duo.
