Virtual Home Design Consultations: A Convenient and Effective Option for Your Next Renovation

The most important part of any renovation project is the design stage. This process begins with the consultation. During your consultation, you will meet your designers, communicate what you like and don’t like about your space, and they will gather the information needed to create some prospective plans on how to move forward. This brainstorming session will offer ideas, solutions, and an estimated cost for your project. This is also when your designers will collect measurements and take photos to help in the design and selection process.
This step in the renovation process has traditionally been done in person as a face-to-face interaction; however, with today’s technology, a virtual consultation can be just as effective, while offering even more convenience. A virtual consultation allows you to start the process on your own time. All the same information, insight, and feedback are collected, and the same expert advice, attention, and detail are provided, all without anyone stepping foot in your home.

How Does a Virtual Design Consultation Work?

The virtual design consultation process is a simple one. It allows you to provide all the necessary information needed to get your project started. It begins by filling out a simple questionnaire that outlines your desires and timeframe, as well as the details of the space you would like to renovate. In addition to this questionnaire, you will also provide multiple photographs of the room you are renovating. There should be multiple photos from multiple angles with cabinet doors both open and closed, and be sure to include adjacent spaces, as well as floors and ceilings. To upload multiple photos, simply hold down the CTRL button while selecting files from your desktop or select all the photos from your library that you would like to use on your mobile device.

Once you submit the photos, schedule your appointment, and pay the $250 consultation fee (which is applied to the cost of construction), your designer will send rough floor plans for you to fill in the measurements of the space. This will provide visual data of the space that your designers can use to draft your different design options.

During your appointment, you and your designers will remotely review the photographs via Zoom or FaceTime. During this virtual appointment, they will address the functions, malfunctions, and organization of the space and discuss with you your goals for how it will be used. You will receive a consultation summary with images within one day of your virtual appointment.
